WORTH NOTING ON TV

* THURSDAY

Evening News From Moscow (C-Span, 7:25-8 a.m., E.T.): A report in Russian with simultaneous English translation.

Trial coverage: QVC Network vs. Paramount Communications (Court TV, 9 a.m. to noon, E.T.): Pretty technical stuff may be at issue, but the trial covered live here involves media giants, and its result could help shape the future of the telecommunications revolution.

The QVC network is challenging Viacom's planned merger with Paramount. QVC claims, among other things, that the deal prohibits rival bids and is basically unfair. (Court calendars can change quickly, so keep an eye on local listings.) * FRIDAY

Charles Dickens' David Copperfield (NBC, 8-10 p.m.): So titled, presumably, to avoid confusion with David Copperfield the magician.

In any case, the animated special with music premiering here follows the fortunes of Davy, a boy whose life changes when he is taken to London by his cruel stepfather.

The score is by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn, and you'll probably recognize some of the voice-overs by performers like Michael York, Julian Lennon, Sheena Easton, and others.

Viewpoint (ABC, 11:35 p.m.- 1:05 a.m., E.T.): The subject of violence on TV is all over the print media these days and is a big item on radio talk shows. It has also been dealt with on public TV shows like ``The MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour.'' But for reasons that may be obvious, TV violence is not often discussed in any depth on commercial TV, appearing instead in the form of segments on news shows.

So you have to give credit to ``Viewpoint'' for this edition's subject: violence on TV news, an aspect of the problem less discussed than others. The show airs before an audience at the ABC News bureau in Washington. Panelists will include TV news people, government officials, and media critics.
