WORTH NOTING ON TV

* SATURDAY

Tournament of Roses Parade (ABC, NBC, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., EST; CBS, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., EST): Though not appealing to all viewers, this New Year's Day festival is indisputably an eyeful. The 105th edition, for instance, boasts 56 floral floats, 21 marching bands, and 30 equestrian units. It's expected to be seen first hand by about 1 million people and by some 325 million viewers worldwide. The live coverage from Pasadena, Calif., will also have its quota of celebrity hosts, depending on which network you watch (and there's nothing wrong with doing a bit of station-hopping).

Bowl games (Beginning 1 p.m., EST): The supply seems inexhaustible (and exhausting, in a couch-potato way). You can maintain your watch for about 11 hours, with lots of interruptions for station breaks, news updates, and especially for commercials.

ABC

Citrus Bowl (Starting 1 p.m., EST): The leadoff game is a matchup between the Big Ten's Penn State, ranked 13th nationally in the Associated Press poll (AP), and Tennessee of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), ranked 6th.

Rose Bowl (Starting 4:30 p.m., EST): The 80th edition of a classic contest that annually pits the Big Ten and Pacific-10 champions. This time UCLA of the Pac-10, ranked 14th in the AP poll, faces the Big Ten's Wisconsin, ranked 9th.

Sugar Bowl (Starting 8:30 p.m., EST): Undefeated West Virginia, ranked No. 3, meets SEC champion Florida, No. 8.

NBC

Fiesta Bowl (Starting 1 p.m., EST): The University of Miami Hurricanes, ranked 10th in the AP poll, face No. 16 - the University of Arizona Wildcats.

Cotton Bowl (Starting 4:30 p.m., EST): No. 4 University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, ranked 4th, vs. the Texas A & M University Aggies, ranked 7th.

Orange Bowl (Starting 8 p.m., EST): The University of Nebraska Cornhuskers, ranked No. 1 nationally, meet the No. 2 Florida State University Seminoles.

America and the Courts (C-Span, 7-9 p.m., EST): ``Year in Review'' looks at the legal issues of 1993.
