Poems for Sona

One winter on the road

to Providence I saw them

About these ads

through the bus window:

a pair of white swans

slowly circling a pond

surrounded by mounds of snow,

moving, moving to keep

the water fluid. And I came

home to write letters

About these ads

you would not get, but which

kept ice from forming.
