WORTH NOTING ON TELEVISION

* THURSDAY

Star Trek - The Motion Picture (TNT, 9 p.m.-12:15 a.m.): Kicking off TNT's Two-Day Sci Fi Fest is this 1979 cult film, which gave rise to five sequels, several TV series, and the recent ''Star Trek Generations'' movie. Not only does William Shatner star as captain of the Starship Enterprise as the crew endeavors to stop a mysterious force headed toward Earth, but he also hosts the show for TNT as the finale to its celebrity-hosted ''Our Favorite Movies: Summer Edition '95.''

Eight programs follow the Star Trek film as part of the sci-fi festival: ''Forbidden Planet'' (1956), ''THX-1138'' (1971), ''Logan's Run'' (1977), ''2010'' (1984), ''Message From Space'' (1978), ''Overlords of the U.F.O.'' (1976), ''UFO (Unidentified Flying Objects)'' (1956), and ''The Man From Planet X'' (1951).

* FRIDAY

Women of the House (CBS, 8:30-9 p.m.): A new episode of this ''Designing Women'' spinoff, starring Delta Burke as US Rep. Suzanne Sugarbaker, takes a look at how Suzanne's office prepares for Senate committee hearings on the way women are depicted in movies and on TV. As Suzanne and the women on her staff react to degrading pornographic materials, guest stars lend their own voices to the issue: Loni Anderson, Elizabeth Ashley, Roseanne Barr, Carol Burnett, Brett Butler, Marilyn Chambers, Diedre Hall, Shirley Jones, Marilyn McCoo, Rita Moreno, Stephanie Powers, and Joan Van Ark appear as themselves as friendly witnesses at the committee hearings.

Picket Fences (CBS, 9-10 p.m. and 10-11 p.m.): Two rebroadcasts of the drama ''Picket Fences'' may be worth a look if you missed them the first time. In the first episode at 9 p.m., defense attorney and Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz guest stars as himself. He lends advice to one of the show's regular characters, Wambaugh (Fyvush Finkel). Wambaugh and Littleton (Don Cheadle) are arguing a high-profile murder case before the Supreme Court. The second episode at 10 p.m. continues with the murder case, which is reopened just before sentencing with surprising results.
