SUNDAY

America's Greatest Olympians (TBS, 9-11 p.m.): Award-winning writer Bud Greenspan scrolled through more than 2 million feet of film to select his picks for this documentary. There are interviews with gold medalists Greg Louganis and Mary Lou Retton, but what makes this documentary special are the little-known greats, such as pole vaulter Bob Richards, the first Wheaties spokesman who is still vaulting 40 years after the 1956 Games; and sprinter Betty Robinson, the first US woman to win a gold medal for track and field in1924. A teacher discovered her when she was running to catch a train. And 28 years after canoer Bill Havens stayed home from the 1924 Olympics to be with his pregnant wife, son Fred Havens sent him a telegram from the Helsinki Games: "Dear Dad. Thanks for waiting around for me to get born. I'm coming home with the gold medal you should have won."

TUESDAY

Jimmy Stewart (Disney, 10-11 p.m.): Carol Burnett narrates this feature on the wonderful life of Hollywood's ultimate Everyman, whom she dubs, "A Norman Rockwell portrait come to life."
