Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

No longer do you need to hop in the car and drive all over town if you want to see homes elaborately decorated for the holidays. Now you can view them on the Internet any time of day or night.

One site, Homestore.com (www.homestore.com/Decorate/ HolidayLights), has gathered color photos of light displays from around the US. Check out the brilliantly illuminated Newton County, Texas, Courthouse and a giant light tree in Honolulu, as well as dozens of private homes.

The site also offers bits of history and trivia about holiday lights, tips for decorating safely, and suggestions from experts about how to take good photos of Christmas light displays.
