Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Getting kids involved in chores

Linda Burzynski knows chores. After all, she's president of Molly Maid, a nationwide residential cleaning service.

Ms. Burzynski offers these tips to help parents get kids interested in cleaning:

*Delegate two or three age-appropriate chores to each child. Give them full responsibility for completing the task.

*Let kids know that snacks are OK; crumbs are not. Keep a Dustbuster handy.

*Teach kids cleaning shortcuts. A portable hair dryer can come in handy for quick dust jobs like cobwebs.
