The jet-set index

Business jet sales are climbing.

In fact, they've more than doubled since 1995. The sector's growth is just one indication of how corporations are riding the successes of the high-flying economy.

If you want your own business jet, Bombardier Inc., a leading manufacturer of business jets, charges $10 million for its medium-sized Learjet 60. And it costs another $1 million or so a year to keep the plane running. Companies that can't afford that price can pay a mere $1.4 million for 100 hours of flying time and share the plane with other companies.
