Riding bareback at work

Tired of office chairs that are harder than Chinese calculus - or just plain boring, even in mauve?

Michael Stefan Leoniak might be able to help you. The headless, Hereford-looking prototype chair that he created is called a Bebo.

The frame is made of birch plywood, covered by a layer of foam, and upholstered with hand-sewn ultra-suede. The chair can be placed in a variety of sitting positions, as long as the sitter has the space to have fun with it, says Mr. Leoniak.

The Industrial Designers Society of America gave Leoniak top honors at the 2000 Industrial Design Excellence Awards, the equivalent of an Oscar in the design world.
