Sunday 7/2
Restore America with Bob Vila (HGTV, 10-11 p.m.): The season finale finds our hero visiting our nation's historic treasures. Highlights include: Walt Whitman's birthplace, Wheelock Academy, and James Monroe's plantation house.
Monday 7/3
Wimbledon (TNT, 1 p.m.): Tennis tournament continues all week (see story, page 12).
The Wizard of Oz (TCM, 8-10 p.m.): The wonderful wizard is back, preceded and followed by documentaries about the movie and about Judy Garland. This is the first time the film will be shown on TV without commercial interruptions, and it marks the beginning of a week-long Judy Garland festival.
The Washington Monument It Stands for All (Discovery, 8-9 p.m.): The documentary explains the historic importance of the monument and its complete refurbishing. We hear from renowned architect Michael Graves.
Tuesday 7/4
The Greatest American Fourth (PBS, 9 a.m.-noon): Features the largest flotilla of tall ships, warships, and submarines ever assembled in New York Harbor.
Pop Goes the Fourth (ABC and A&E, 7:30-10:30 p.m.): From the banks of the Charles, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra strikes up the patriotic tunes.
A Capitol Fourth (PBS, check local listings): Barry Bostwick ("Spin City") hosts with Ray Charles, Audra McDonald, and flutist James Galway.
Cincinnati Pops Holiday: Fourth of July from the Heartland (PBS, check local listings): Stars the Cincinnati Pops, Rosemary Clooney, Doc Severinsen, and Danny Glover (reading "Casey at the Bat").
Wednesday 7/5
Big Brother (CBS, 9-10 p.m..): New series makes its debut with 10 strangers sharing a house for three months where their every action is taped by 28 cameras and recorded with 60 microphones. Every other Thursday, the group chooses two members they want to kick out and the viewers decide who must go. The last remaining houseguest wins $500,000.
Junkyard Wars (TLC, 9-10 p.m.): Here's reality TV worth watching - this sometimes hilarious and oddly exciting show pits one team against another in a junkyard. Each builds machines to out-perform the other. Tonight: Power Pullers.
