A shooting primer

To qualify in women's air pistol, Beki Snyder and the other competitors will fire 40 shots from a distance of 10 meters. The top eight will shoot 10 shots in the finals. The pistols are air-powered and use lead pellets. The bull's-eye measures .45 inches.

In women's sport pistol, qualifying will involve 60 shots from 25 meters - 30 in the precision event and 30 more in rapid fire. In the rapid fire, the target is shown for three seconds and competitors can fire only once. Again, the top eight will shoot 10 shots in the finals. The pistols are .22 caliber and use long rifle cartridges. The bull's-eye measures two inches in precision, four in rapid fire. Scoring is done electronically.
