Web Smarts

www.childrensmusic.org

What: The Children's Music Web aims to "create the world's most complete public resource on children's music."

About these ads

BEST POINTS: The site serves largely as a clearinghouse for anything related to music for and by kids. The easiest way to begin is to enter one of the four tour areas - for kids, parents, educators, or musicians.

If you're looking for musical suggestions, you can check out the "Children's Music Web Awards 2000," which are decided by kids. Or enter the "Pipsqueaks" section for information on kids' radio stations, making music, or some fun lyrics.

The "Music Education" link takes educators or parents to plenty of curricula, games, and professional resources. And the "Radio Refrigerator" offers a number of audio selections for kids you can download. Many lists of links are provided - the most complete is the Children's Music Web Guide. The "Concert Calendar" gives updated information on concerts in your area.

What you need to know: The site contains a few unobtrusive ads. RealAudio is needed to listen to the audio selections. The emphasis is slightly geared toward younger kids.
