Sunday 11/26

The Moving of Sophia Myles (CBS, 8-10 p.m.): (See review, p17s1.)

History Undercover: Diplomats for the Damned (History Channel, 10-11 p.m.): Arthur Kent hosts this extraordinary documentary. Falsified visas, papers, and payoffs were arranged by 63 diplomats from Switzerland, Portugal, the US, and Germany to save people on their way to the death camps between 1938 and 1945. These heroes saved 4 million lives.

Monday 11/27

Founding Fathers (History Channel, 9-10 p.m., Nov. 27-30): (See review, p17s1.)

Tuesday 11/28

Nova: Garden of Eden (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): Once again Nova offers spectacular cinematography in this breathtaking investigation of the life forms on the Seychelles, a small outcropping of islands in the Indian Ocean. There are frogs the size of ants, and trees that hark back to the Jurassic period. The most ancient islands on earth are treasure troves of ancient life, still unspoiled by civilization.

Wednesday 11/29

Christmas in Rockefeller Center (NBC, 8-9 p.m.): The most famous Christmas tree in the world lights up with stars including Natalie Cole, Marc Anthony, and 98 Degrees.

David Blaine: Frozen in Time (ABC, 10-11 p.m.): The trickster has more thrills and chills up his sleeve (well, he's not wearing one) when he breaks out of an ice cube after being encased for 58 hours.

Thursday 11/30

Half Past Autumn: The Life and Works of Gordon Parks (HBO, 9-10:30 p.m.): Photographer, filmmaker, poet, musician, writer - this extraordinary man has distinguished himself in many artistic endeavors and witnessed some of US history's most difficult moments. African-American, born in poverty, he made a life for himself and rose to fame and fortune telling the truth about what he saw and felt. Narrated by Alfre Woodard.

Friday 12/1

Bruno (Starz/Encore, 8-10 p.m.): Shirley MacLaine's directorial debut is a charming if somewhat didactic tale about a child's right to self-expression. Child genius Bruno is attacked by bullies in his parochial school because of his unusual clothing preferences. But he eventually teaches everyone to respect him. Stars include Gary Sinise and MacLaine herself.
