Berkeley Farmers' Market. Saturday - Center Street and Martin Luther King Blvd. Tuesday - Derby Street and Martin Luther King. (510) 548-3333. More than half the vendors are registered organic.
Santa Monica. Wednesday - Second and Arizona. Saturday - Third and Arizona. There's a waiting list for farmers. No crafts allowed. (310) 458-8712.
American Farmland Trust Freshfarm Market. Sunday - Dupont Circle. 800-886-5170 ext. 3051. You can choose from 20 to 30 varieties of heirloom tomatoes.
Farmers' Market in Hilo. Corner of Mamo Street and Kamehameha Avenue. Wednesday and Saturday. Everyone comes for the white sugar loaf pineapple, which locals say is "10 times sweeter" than the regular yellow pineapple. (808) 933-1000.
Chicago's Green City Market. Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - South Lincoln Park at the intersection of Clark, LaSalle, and Cannon. Supports sustainable agriculture using very strict criteria developed by a committee of chefs. (847) 835-2240.
Camden Farmers' Market. Saturday morning and Wednesday evening. Colcord Street, Camden. They sell 300 chicken pot pies a week. (207) 273-2809.
