When police in North Wales began an "Arrive Alive" campaign to promote highway safety, Chief Constable Richard Bunstrom called motorists who exceed the speed limit "anti- social ... criminals." But now his department has revealed that of the almost 50,000 violators caught on camera, 12 were - oops - members of the force. Each was fined $100, the same as a civilian would pay. A campaign spokeswoman said the public should be reassured, since this demonstrated there is no favoritism for cops.

You could literally call Hank van Leeuwen's home a museum. In fact, the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Australia essentially did. In a report this week, it recommends that the former employee of the Australian Museum in Sydney be charged with theft for liberating more than 2,000 of its rare artifacts or scientific specimens ... and using its own vehicles for much of the hauling. Most of the treasures were recovered from his residence. No word on whether there was any room left over for the furniture.

Hollywood's best year? When Scarlett and Rhett lit screen

A survey of British filmgoers decided 1939 was the greatest year in Hollywood history. That's when audiences first saw such classics as "Gone With the Wind," "The Wizard of Oz," and "Stagecoach." Two thousand movie fans took part in the survey by online polling firm YouGov.com. The top years, and some of the releases that made them noteworthy:

1939: "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," "Wuthering Heights," "Of Mice and Men"
1974: "The Godfather: Part II," "Chinatown," "The Great Gatsby"
1946: "It's a Wonderful Life," "The Postman Always Rings Twice"
1941: "Citizen Kane," "How Green Was My Valley"
1957: "Bridge Over The River Kwai," "Zorro"
1971: "The French Connection," "A Clockwork Orange" - Associated Press
