Parks that cross borders

There are 33 strict nature reserves, or areas protected mainly for science, that include territory from two or more nations. Several lie in unsettled regions of the world, including:

• Mont Nimba Strict Nature Reserve in Ivory Coast/Guinea/Liberia

• Khankaiskiy Zapovednik in China/Russia

• Polessky Nature Reserve in Belarus/Ukraine

• Kopacki Rit Special Reserve in Croatia/Hungary

• Babia Hora National Nature Reserve in Poland/Slovakia

• Rosca-Buhaiova National Reserve in Romania/Ukraine

• The Río Indio-Maíz Biological Reserve in Costa Rica/Nicaragua

• Sundarbans National Park in Bangladesh/India
