David Gaz must have been in a terrible hurry last weekend when police in Israel pulled him over after clocking his car at 88 m.p.h. - well above the speed limit for that stretch of highway. Alas, in addition to a probable fine, the incident has cost him his job. You see, he was the commander of the traffic division for the nation's southern district.

With 19 straight NFL wins, Patriots have no peers

The New England Patriots, last season's Super Bowl champions, won their 19th consecutive game Sunday to set a National Football League record. The streak, which began last season and includes the playoffs, was extended with a 24-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins. In 1972, the Dolpins established the NFL's single-season record with a 17-0 campaign, then won the opener in 1973 to run their streak to 18 wins, a mark shared with the Patriots and five other teams until last weekend. The teams with the longest winning streaks, and the years in which they were compiled:
New England Patriots 19 2003-04 and counting
Chicago Bears 18 1933-34
Chicago Bears 18 1941-42
Cleveland Browns 18 1947-48 (in defunct All-America Football Conference
Miami Dolphins 18 1972-73
