Monday, April 3: BERLIN - German politicians and industry leaders begin an energy summit to discuss the country's future use of nuclear power.

Tuesday, April 4: KUWAIT CITY - The first election under law that allows women candidates and women voters. Two women are candidates.

Wednesday, April 5: SAO PAULO, Brazil - World Economic Forum on Latin America opens two-day gathering of 250 leaders from business, government, and civil society to discuss regional problems.

Friday, April 7: VIENNA - European imams and other Muslim leaders meet in hopes of expanding the role of Muslims in European politics and civil society.

Sunday, April 9: ROME - Italy votes for a new parliament in an election expected to be a close contest between conservatives of US-allied Premier Silvio Berlusconi and center-left bloc led by Romano Prodi. LIMA, Peru - Presidential election in which left-leaning retired soldier Ollanta Humala is seen as front-runner, but with not enough support to avoid a runoff. Lourdes Flores, the pro-business ex-congressman, is seen as a close second.
