Tubegazing: Wild at Heart

This elegant, shot-on-location BBC America series follows a family who try to revive a dilapidated South African big-game park.

Wild at Heart (BBC America, series debuts Saturday, April 21, 10 p.m.): When it comes to escaping the past and starting a new life, the British always seem to turn to Africa. In this elegant, shot-on-location series about the South African bush, a dysfunctional family – a widowed veterinarian, his grieving teenage daughter, a pretty new wife, and her two young children – leave Britain. Their goal is to heal as a family by undertaking the Herculean work of reviving a dilapidated big-game park. This may sound like sappy family fare, but it's surprisingly understated and well-written. It's also, of course, nearly (but not quite) overrun by a magnificent cast of locals – cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, monkeys, giraffes, and much more. Grade: A
