I just finished You Know When the Men are Gone by Siobhan Fallon. This story collection is set in the Fort Hood, Tex., army base, and gives a heart wrenching glimpse into the inner world of army families – a world that is totally out of my realm of experience. This author writes with intelligence and authenticity, and her insights gave me an amazing respect for army families.
