In The Unwanted Sound of Everything We Want: A Book about Noise, Garret Keizer explores the definition, history and mainly the political and cultural implications and uses of noise. He admits up front that noise is a small problem, but he goes on, visiting Sturgis (Harley heaven), the National Park Service, and communities with first wanted then hated wind turbines to link noise to fundamental social, economic and cultural conflicts. But don’t pigeon-hole him: he admits he loves his chainsaw, Manhattan and the Rolling Stones.
