If you've lost your home to foreclosure and don't have enough money for that first month of rent, don't panic. There are alternatives.

You've just lost the roof over your head, which means the big house payments are gone. But it also means that there might not be enough money to pay that first month of rent. So here are some extreme, but possible, places for you to live until you get back on your feet. Bunk with family and friends, become a house-sitter, or check out couchsurfing.com until you have enough money saved for the next step. Living in your car or moving temporarily into a shelter might seem drastic, but do what you have to do to keep your family safe.
