Ram Jatan (l.) and Mahinder Vanvasi stand next to their bicycle in Varanasi. On April 13, the two escaped from a brick kiln in Uttar Pradesh. They rode 12 miles on their bike to their home village to get help. The men and their families had been forced into bonded labor when they were unable to earn enough to pay back an advance the kiln owner had given them. Two months later, their families were rescued.
