KYRGYZSTAN UPRISING – 2010– A populist revolt in April, sparked by the tiny mountainous republic's dire economic crisis, ousted Kyrgyzstan's then-president, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, and placed opposition leader Roza Otunbayeva as the head of a provisional government. Mr. Bakiyev had come to power five years earlier during the Tulip Revolution. Protesters break through an entrance of the Kyrgyz government headquarters in Bishkek on April 8.
