Afghans get into an army truck on Tuesday after being evacuated from an avalanche site along the Salang Pass, north of Kabul, Afghanistan. Officials said that avalanches have killed at least 28 people and left another 1,500 stranded and the snow-blocked mountain pass. The Defense Ministry released a statement saying another 70 people have been injured as rescue efforts continue to dig out hundreds of vehicles stuck on the pass.
