When it came to capturing last week's inauguration, CNN and Microsoft grabbed most of tech-press attention with their Photosynth image collage. But here's a second graphical look at the historical moment: a 1.4 gigpixel image of a very crowded Washington Mall.
Photographer David Bergman took President Obama's address as a chance to test out a robotic camera system called Gigapan. The swinging device captured and then stitched together 220 high-resolution photos into one massive snapshot. Zoom in to see the president and the faces of thousands in the crowd.
