Live in Colorado? Then you have 16 choices for president

When voters go to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots for president, they'll expect to see the names of US Sens. John McCain (R) and Barack Obama (D). What they might not bargain for are largely obscure "third party" and independent candidates who've managed to make their way onto the ballot. How many there are vary from state to state, depending on rules of eligibility. Surely, Coloradans will be confronted by the longest list, a record 16 nominees, among them representatives of the Prohibition and Boston Tea Parties. The 14 nonmajor-party hopefuls on the Colorado ballot and the affiliation of each:

  • Chuck Baldwin, Constitution Party
  • Bob Barr, Libertarian Party
  • Cynthia McKinney, Green Party
  • Jonathan E. Allen, HeartQuake '08
  • Gene Amondson, Prohibition Party
  • James Harris, Socialist Workers Party
  • Charles Jay, Boston Tea Party
  • Alan Keyes, America's Independent
  • Gloria La Riva, Socialism and Liberation Party
  • Bradford Lyttle, US Pacifist Party
  • Frank E. McEnulty, unaffiliated
  • Brian Moore, Socialist USA Party
  • Ralph Nader, unaffiliated
  • Thomas Robert Stevens, Objectivist Party
