Waldheim sees progress in Kampuchea peace plan

After three hours of talks with Vietnamese Foreign minister Nguyen Co Thach, UN Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim reported progress Sunday in reconciling proposals by the Indo- China states and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations aimed at resolving the Kampuchean crisis.

Both sides feel a demilitarized zone will reduce tensions between Vietnamese-occupied Kampuchea and Thailand, but disagree on where the zone should be located.
