Canadian government clerks reached a tentative agreement with federal negotiators, ending a nine-day nationwide strike and returning order to disrupted mail delivery, airport operations, and other services. The settlement is said to include a 9 percent raise beginning in November and another 4 percent raise starting in May 1981; a lump-sum payment of $1,500; a cost-of-living bonus; and a promise of no reprisals against workers involved in the strike.
