Energy rules for new school building

School districts constructing new buildings this year must adhere to new conservation standards under regulations issued by the US Department of Education.

Although the rules will cover all federal education programs, both direct and state-administered grants, they will not apply to existing buildings. Only those under construction must meet the standards. The rules became effective as of Oct. 1, 1980.
