Guerrilla base in Lebanon is hit by Israeli planes

Israeli warplanes struck a Palestinian guerrilla base 12 miles south of Beirut in the second such attack in a month, the military command said. It added that the base was used as a forward staging area for attacks into Israel and for training exercises. All planes returned safely, and pilots reported direct hits on their targets. It was the first known air attack since Sept. 17, when Israeli fighter-bombers struck Rashidiyah along the south Lebanese coast.
