Chinese airline to fly a Peking-New York route

The Chinese airline CAAC will start flights to New York from Peking via Shanghai and San Francisco on Jan. 7, the New China News Agency has announced. CAAC, using a special-performance Boeing 747, will provide one flight a week until April, when twice-weekly flights will be inaugurated.

The agency also reported that Pan American World Airways will open its service to Shanghai and Peking from New York via San Francisco with twice-weekly flights on Jan. 28.
