Old Woman

she treads carefully around the sod of her freshly turned garden plot. what does she see that I do not streaming like slender Crepe paper ribbons? the flowers that will rise out of the brown earth see how she turns slowly inspecting the soggy clumps of mud dark wook skirt and loose yellow cap. now I remember hers was the sunflower garden the reason I went the long way to speak to the heavy-haired sunflower nodding into fall wind. see how she resembles her own planting and what do I resemble? wish it were sweetpeas tumbling through white thread glistening fuschsia, lavender and coral softenin g a wall
