A-free zone called for in Midwest by Rostow

The Israeli destruction of Iraq'a nuclear reactor and the volatile political conditions in the Middle East demand the region be declared a nuclear-weapons free zone, says Eugene V. Rostow, director of the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. The success of the Treaty of Tlatelolco, which is signed by 22 nations and bans nuclear weapons in Latin America, has prompted him to seek the same restrictions for the Middle East. The White house said President Reagan supports the idea.
