Surely the Supreme Court was in the mainstream of American thinking by ruling that student religious groups must be allowed to meet on state university campuses where student groups are allowed to meet for secular purposes. The constitutional separation of church and state has been so repeatedly and sensitively protected by the court that the judgment in this case must be respected as in keeping with that guarantee, as well as with America's concern for freedom of religion in the marketplace of ideas.
