West Bank town council dissolved by Israelis

Israeli occupation authorities dissolved the Palestinian town council of El Bireh on the West Bank and appointed Army officers as administrators, a military spokesman said. The council came to power in municipal elections in 1976, one of the few occasions the Palestinian residents have had the opportunity to vote.
