Justice Dept. blocking move against CIA source?

A US attorney accused the Justice Department of blocking attempts to prosecute Mexico's former federal security chief for his alleged part in a $30 million luxury car theft ring.

In an interview in the San Diego Union US attorney William Kennedy said that the Central Intelligence Agency regarded Miguel Nassar Haro as an ''indispensable'' source of intelligence on Mexico and Central America.

Mr. Nassar Haro, who resigned in January as director of Mexico's Direccion Federal de Seguridad, the country's equivalent of a combined FBI-CIA, is one of 29 persons indicted last July in connection with a stolen car ring which allegedly stole 4,000 cars worth an estimated $30 million.
