Manila bomb blast not political, police say

A fragmentation grenade exploded in a residential area here next to two crowded minibuses, killing three and wounding 24 other people.

The explosion follows government warnings of a conspiracy to overthrow President Ferdinand Marcos. But the police chief said the blast was not politically motivated. Mr. Marcos is due in the US next week for a state visit.
