Egypt complains to Israel over hotel on Sinai beach

Egypt formally complained to Israel about the opening of an Israeli luxury beach hotel on Taba beach, a small section of the Sinai that Egypt claims.

Egypt said Israel's opening of the hotel breached an agreement that the area should be left as a no man's land. President Hosni Mubarak said he was prepared to meet Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin for talks on settling disputes between their two countries. The Israeli Cabinet said it was prepared to resume talks on Taba, suspended since last May, only if they were part of talks on broader issues between the two countries.
