Williams and four others guilty in Teamster case

Teamsters president Roy Williams and four others were found guilty Wednesday on charges they conspired to bribe Sen. Howard Cannon of Nevada into killing legislation to deregulate the trucking industry.

The jury of six men and six women deliberated for 261/2 hours over four days before finding the defendants guilty on 11 counts of conspiracy, fraud, and interstate travel to further a bribe. The defendants face a possible five years in prison and $10,000 in fines on each count.
