Shultz meets counterparts in Central America and Nicaraguan leader says he's open to talk

Nicaraguan leader Daniel Ortega Saavedra accused the United States Wednesday of pursuing ''aggressive'' policies in Central America, but said he was willing to meet with US Secretary of State George Shultz to discuss conflicts in the region. Mr. Ortega reaffirmed his leftist government's commitment to holding elections in 1985. Ortega spoke here on his arrival to attend the inauguration of Venezuelan President Jaime Lusinchi.

''I think the main effort that must be made is to avoid US intervention in Nicaragua, because if anything threatens the elections, it is this,'' he told reporters.
