3-way peace talks set for southern Africa

Delegations from South Africa, Angola, and the United States will meet in Lusaka, Zambia, today for several days of talks on a peace settlement in southern Africa, the US Embassy announced Wednesday.

"The immediate subject will be maintaining the South African 'disengagement' of its froces from southern Angola," it said.

The US delegation will be led by Chester A. Crocker, US assistant secretary of state for African affairs. South Africa said it would be represented at the talks bt Foreign Minister Pik Botha and Defense Minister Magnus Malan. Officials said the Angolan delegation would be led bt Interior Minister Alexandre Rodrigues.
