US will train guards from Salvador, State Dept. says

Sixty prison guards from El Salvador will be trained in the United States to provide security for the violence-plagued Salvadorean judicial system, the State Department said Saturday. The training program is part of a $3 million project set up by Congress last year to help modernize the criminal justice system in El Salvador, said Anita Stockman, a State Department press officer.
