Thousands of Cambodians flee to Thailand in Viet raidBritain, France, and USSR

Between 7,000 and 10,000 Cambodians fled across the border into Thailand Wednesday night when their camp was attacked by Vietnamese forces, UN officials said Thursday. About 30 Vietnamese artillery shells hit the main camp of the Khmer People National Liberation Front (KPNLF) at Ampil, opposite Thailand's Prachinburi Province, 160 miles east of Bangkok. About 32,000 Cambodian civilians fled into Thailand from Ampil last April during a Vietnamese attack.
