Americans earned 2.1% more in second quarter, US reports

The average personal income of Americans rose 2.1 percent from April through June despite a drop among residents in six farm states, the Commerce Department said Monday. The drop in personal earnings in the six Farm Belt states was blamed on the end of the government's payment-in-kind farm subsidy program.
