Thanksgiving Day, 1850

The mention of Thanksgiving calls up each one's home, with its antique structure, the venerable halls, rooms, windows all as we left them years ago. The same elms spread out their branches to shade them. The little brook comes leaping down over the stones merrily as ever. Though thousands of miles away, it seems as if we could hear the measured tick of the old clock in the corner.
