Kingdom of the Crabs (Turner Broadcasting, cable, 9-9:30 p.m.): A visit to Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean - population: 2,000 humans, 120 million crabs - where people have to step over the crusty set during their annual seaward migration.

MONDAY Freedom Festival '89 (CBS, 10-11 p.m.): Hosted by Patrick Duffy, this splashy, celebrity-laden show celebrates the Fourth of July - one day early - with fireworks and song and dance. Wimbledon (NBC, 10 a.m.-noon, ET): The tennis coverage is now live. American Masters (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): ``Harold Clurman: A Life of Theatre'' - second in the three-part report on the Group Theatre - traces the career of the influential actor-writer-teacher, a key figure in bringing method acting to the US.

TUESDAY Wimbledon (NBC, 10 a.m.-noon, ET): More live tennis coverage. A Capitol Fourth (PBS, 8-9:30 p.m.): The 200th anniversary of the US Congress is celebrated from the West Lawn of the Capitol with fireworks and music that includes the National Symphony Orchetsra, flautist James Galway, Pearl Bailey, and others.

WEDNESDAY In Performance at the White House (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): John Denver is host for ``The House I Live In,'' a varied evening of music that includes ragtime pianist Joshua Rifkin's rendition of ``Pleasant Moments'' and many other performances.
