Land of Clouds

I have lived my life with landscapes that sang, with horizons that towered to templed peaks that rang with whirling winds and hawks' wings and every breathing, pulsing thing that sings! Vistas that lifted to the height of thunder, purple in the skies, the shell-pink, soon-plowed-under furrows of clouds, the devious tightening dark pierced by hissing swords of lightning. Here the sky is the greater heaven; to heaven are the hills and the storm clouds given and only the heart succeeds in cresting the climbing cliffs where the wind is nesting.
