East Wind, West Wind: Pearl Buck, the Woman Who Embraced the World
(PBS, 10-11:30 p.m.): She may have embraced the world, but most remember the late author for embracing China, and with a depth of understanding that makes her great novel, "The Good Earth," and other works so memorable. Her humanitarian causes were also notable, including a campaign to help Amerasian children reviled in both their parents' countries. A mix of interviews and remarks by China scholars are used in painting this portrait of the life and career of the only American woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature.
