PCs hot in '94

GIVEN the incredible growth in the home PC market, sales for the Top 100 computer retailers rose 46.4 percent in 1994, according to a survey by Computer Retail Week.

``Home offices [and] small businesses have not diminished as a key source of sales,'' says Roger Lanctot, the newspaper's special projects editor. ``But the home user - with a keen and growing interest in multimedia applications and on-line interactions - has commandeered the wheel of industry growth.''

Computer superstores generated the highest computer-related revenue, followed by electronic and superstores, office superstores, and software specialists.
